What is endodontics ?

What is endodontics ?

Endodontics is the treatment of the roots of the tooth.

In every root there is one or several canals in which there is situated the pulp this consists of nervous tissue.

When we carry out root canal treatment we remove the pulp in each canal and fill the canals completely and hermetically with a filling material.

Filling of all the canals in the tooth means that we avoid the risk of abscesses forming.

When we see a tooth that has already been treated we must verify before a crown is put on the quality of the treatment.

If the filling is incomplete or non-hermetic the treatment must be repeated.
